- I just read an article in the june issue of popular mechanics,
- about the seti project (search for extra terrestrial intelligence).
- It gives some history of the project, and specs on the latest bit of
- hardware - 250 million channels!
- Now the cool part. due to lack of government funding, they are
- also trying a volunteer project. call 1-800-828-7384 they will
- provide info to build a radiotelescope some details shown inthe
- article supposedly the system can be built for about $300. many of us
- probably already have most of the setup (antenna, -article show a
- modified satellite dish-, 1.42ghz tol. 66ghzreceiver or downverter,
- preamp-looks homemade--, and 486 computer with soundblaster)
- Once setup, they will supposedly assign a section of sky for you
- to scan they are calling this project argus
